DIY Popcorn Valentines

DSC_4599Hello & Happy February!  It’s Jessica here, and I am so excited for the opportunity to share some heart day inspiration here today.  At our recent Valentine’s workshop, Amanda asked me to create mini love notes to stick in our popcorn treats.  They turned out really cute in these hot pink cups from Shop Sweet LuLu, so I figured I would add a few extra layers and share a little DIY with you!  These treats will pair perfectly with your favorite Romantic Comedy, so grab your favorite sweet, salty, or cheesy popcorn and start planning your Valentine’s movie night!

DSC_4587Supplies:
heart shaped doilies
patterned cardstock paper
rubber stamper
lace/ribbon (optional)
bamboo skewers, cut in half
cups
pink ruffle crepe paper
hot glue
scissors
POPCORN!

DSC_4591I began by stamping the phrase “you make my heart pop” onto white paper and cutting it into thin strips.  You could also use your computer and print out something with a similar small font on regular printing paper.  Next I cut little heart shapes out of some of my favorite scrapbooking paper.  To attach the message to each heart, I ran it through my sewing machine at a diagonal.  For extra embellishment, you could add a piece of lace or glitter ribbon to the side of the message.

Once my hearts were pieced together, hot glued them to heart shaped doilies, sandwiching the skewer in the middle. DSC_4597

I added a dose of frilly goodness to the hot pink cups, by hot gluing some pink ruffle around the mid section of the cup.  Ruffled crepe paper is my newest obsession.  I’ve been putting it on everything lately! DSC_4603Thanks Amanda so much for this sweet idea and for allowing me to share my take on the treats here today! xo.
