13 days and counting

Do you remember making paper chains when you were little?? I can remember making them in school with cheap construction paper during Christmas to count down the days till we got to open presents. Usually we would hang it on our fire place and half way through the season we would usually forget a day, which then turned the paper chain into a decoration.

With less then 13 days to our AZ workshop, I thought it would be fun to send a fun happy mail count down paper chain to a sweet friend who will be attending the workshop.

Using my favorite Maggie Holmes styleboard paper I cut a wide variety of 1/2 inch width strips. Because I was using scraps, the lengths varied in size. As soon as I had enough strips, I started glueing them together to make the paper chain. After the paper chain was made, I began decorating the outside of a mini gold mailing tube, which I was sending the paper chain in.

I used my typewriter  to add  the address onto the pink label and then added a cardboard floral embellishment.  To finish it off I added a letter of the receivers name .

mailer7On the end of the paper chain I added a manilla tag with a typed note and a small yarn tassel tied with a small piece of lace.

mailer6How fun are these cardboard frames!  Although they are intended  to use as photo frames, I added one on top of my  typed  ” see you in 13days ” count down note , I and backed it with some patterned paper.  .  mailer4To finish the mailer off, I glued a circle punch out “open here” to the top of the cap so my receiver knew where to open the tube. I also taped the first chain loop to the top of the cap. so when the it gets opened the chain will pull out!!  I also added a gold rub on to the tube above the address label. I just love how the two golds look together .

mailer1 I am already thinking of different ways to use mini tube mailers They are so unique and fun to send in the mail.  And who wouldn’t love a splash of gold in their mailbox!!!!
