How has it been over a month since BE CRAFTY traveled to the San Juan Islands ??
Earlier this spring my friends Ashely, Lesley , Sara and I chatted about getting together to host a workshop together. I am always inspired by these girls and the work they create, how could I say no . Plus, Sara invited us to the the beautiful island where she lives. I am so glad she did.
The workshop took place down a dirt road in middle of the Island in a dreamy old rustic barn.

White lights strung across the middle of the barn along with white paper bunting that Ashley and I sewed together.
Miss matched chairs were set around the table ( the tables were handmade my Sara’s amazing husband - Thanks Sean.)
Flowers were picked from Sara’s garden for the table along with felt flowers from The Felt Flower Shop.
The big balloons from Shop Sweet Lulu added the perfect pop of color .
Ashley created the name tags for all the attendees. Lesley personalized them with her fancy handwriting skills.
Once the barn doors were open and everyone settled in we gathered around the table . We started the workshop off with introductions. I love this time as we get to learn a little bit about each other before we start crafting.
I taught the first project of the afternoon. Since I love panting, I thought it would be fun to crate a project that incorporated my love for paint and color. Before we got to the painting we created a macramé to hang our painted pot.
After everyone created their macrame we had a painting party. The table was filled with eye candy paint colors from Behr paint.
The painted pots were set aside to dry as we tuned into Ashely as she taught us how to better use our phone cameras with tips from her phone photography Snap Shops course . She usually teaches online, so it was such a treat to get to learn from her in person.
After her teaching, Ashely led a photography related craft. Everyone got their picture taken with the bouquet of balloons with a mini polaroid camera to use in their project. There might have been one less white balloon after all the photos were taken ……..
Maggie Holmes sent us embellishments from her Confetti collection to decorate our painted wood picture holders.
Throughout the workshop cute little deer popped in to surprise us with a giveaway. A big thanks to our giveaway sponsors :
MPIX | Kelly Moore Bag | Sugar Blossom | Paisley Sprouts | Bloom Theory | Catchswandream |
Lesley ended the workshop with tips and tricks to creating chalk art along with a chalk canvas craft. I am always amazed watching her as she teaches.
Each attendee went home with a kraft box full of swag from our amazing sponsors.

And lastly, A big thanks to these friends of mine. For coming and being apart of BE CRAFTY for the weekend. A weekend I will never forget.
A BIG thanks again to Sara for all the lovely photos. It has always been a dream to have her photograph a workshop.
I can’t wait to share part two with you tomorrow.
Ursula - OH my goodness, where was I? I’m in Sammamish WA but this was a ferry away for me… I need to find a schedule of your workshops, these kind of things just infuse life.
In fact, it reminds of “The Makerie” I attended this spring. Just a dreamy crafty retreat. If you’d like to take a peek at what we crafted, look in here
