Fawn sugar cookies

When it comes to Christmas cookies … give me all the sugar cookies.

Last weekend I made fawn sugar cookies for our Christmas BE CRAFTY workshop ( more on that soon). I wasn’t sure if I was going to be able to pull these off  .. I got asked to make them again for a local business Christmas party so they must have been good.

I recently found a set of gold vintage measuring cups at the thrift store, it made baking extra fun.

You can find the fawn metal cookie cutter on etsy.

I have used this sugar cookie recipe for a couple years. I have adjusted and added more vanilla to the original.  These cookies are great for cut-outs as the dough does not expand in the oven. I always take the cookies out right before they are start turning brown … aprox 8 min.

  • 1 1/2 cups of butter softened
  • 2 cups of sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons of vanilla
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 5 cups of flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder

Directions: In a blender mix butter and sugar together until cream.  Add eggs, vanilla, and salt . Add in baking powder and flour.  Set mixture aside in a bowl and place in fridge to cool for at least 2 hours.

  • 1 cup of confectioners’ sugar
  • 2 teaspoons milk
  • 2 teaspoons light corn syrup
  • 1/4 vanilla

Directions: Mix milk, corn syrup and vanilla together. Add confectioners’ sugar. If frosting is to thick, slowly add in more milk until consistency is desired.  I like to have the frosting a little ticker when I am outlining and thinner when I frost the inside.
