Last minute host gift – DIY

I can’t believe Christmas has come and gone already!!

Before leaving to celebrate with our family out of state, I took a quick trip to Walmart to grab  some road-trip snacks and a few last minute things … it’s pretty safe to say my stretch pants were worn all weekend.

While walking up and down the isles I passed a end cap with a bunch of clearance cutting boards. As I tried to convince myself  that I really didn’t need one I remembered I forgot to get a host gift for my uncle who’s house were were staying at. I grabbed one and knew I wanted to add a pop of color to the handle.

Using a pice of washi tape I sectioned off the handle area. Using red behr paint I simply painted the handle giving it a couple coats until it was fully covered. To finish it off I added another couple coats of clear polyurethane. I added a bottle of Mrs. Myers dish soap and tied it together with red plaid fabric strip to finish off the gift.

I always include a note saying ” HAND WASH” only.  Total cost was under $20.

I think I will be taking a trip back this week … I kinda need one with a pink handle.
