Late night at the thrift store

A couple weeks ago I took a late night trip to the thrift store.  The parking lot wasn’t very full, which hopefully meant there was lot’s of goodies inside waiting for me.  I always walk towards the furniture department first, hoping to score a vintage chair or dresser. As soon as I rounded the corner, there she stood. A small French Provincial dresser.

I was provided product by BEHR to write this post but the thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.

It’s not to often you see a French dresser at the thrift store, and for under $10.  I stood waving my arms trying to flag down an employee to come over with a sold sticker. She was mine.

I couldn’t wait to get home and start painting.  Choosing a color is always the hardest part.  I finally decided on OLD MUSTARD by BEHR paint. When choosing a finish I always pick flat. I find that flat finish is the easiest to paint with and allows me to add a wax finish .

Before I started painting I removed the handles along with the gold accent pieces on the bottom drawer.  Using a flat head screw driver I just popped them off since it was just plastic. They were a little to gaudy for me.

I have to say, this dresser might be one of my favorites that I have painted. I think every house needs a painted dresser.

Heather - That thrift store looks suspiciously like Unique Thrift in NE Minneapolis. If it is, that place is my jam and I have scored so many good finds there!ReplyCancel

Mary - Beautiful piece! I’ve been following you for a while now and I just LOVE everything you do 🙂 You’re joyfully inspiring!

May I ask if you prime your furniture first? I’ve got a few pieces I want to freshen up with some colorful paint and I’m just wondering the best way to go about it 🙂ReplyCancel

      amandarydell@gmail.com - Hi,
The color is called Brown Mustard. It is a older color name, which is why you probably can’t find it on the color wall.
You can tell the paint department you want color code 360D-7ReplyCancel
