I have been dreaming of a pink typewriter since I first laid eyes on one. I came across a pink royal at an estate sale this fall and have kicked myself for not getting it. At the time it was over my budget and something I had not budgeted for. Ever since then I couldn’t stop thinking about it.
One night I got this crazy idea to search all the states on Craig’s List to see if anyone was selling one. I had been looking on ebay and they were just crazy priced. State by state I went searching and just like that I found one in the middle of Washington. I squealed out load and immediately sent them a email asking if it was still for sale. I left my email inbox screen open on my computer just waiting for a reply back. I went to bed and of course could not sleep.
Long story short, the man selling the typewriter thought I was a scammer and would not sell it to me. I think when I asked him if he accepted paypal and if he would be willing to ship it he got a little worried.
My heart was broken.
I texted my friend Sara who is from Washington hoping she might be able to help me out. Sadly she lived a few hours away. I was crossing my fingers she might know someone who lived by that might be willing to help me. And guess what, she DID. I could not believe it. Her friend Kim lived in the exact town as the typewriter. Lot’s of text messages and a day later she had the typewriter in her hands. A trip to the post office and 5 days later I had a big box waiting for me on my door step.
I still can’t believe it all worked out, it was defiantly meant to be.
mara - congrats! so happy for you and many happy “returns” : )
Leanne - What a beautiful typewriter - I now know why you have been dreaming of it since you first saw one. I only ever knew they came in black or grey..
Yes you were meant to have it xx
ellen patton - I love that typewriter! I collect them — I have about a dozen in my apartment — but no pink one. Yet! Good find!!
