Meet Millie

Say hello to Millie the vintage shasta camper.

I have been waiting sooooo long to share this post with you. I almost didn’t think it would ever happen. This past winter The White House girls ( more on this soon too ) and I bought Millie . We have been pretty exited and have big plans for her makeover.

You see, here in the midwest vintage campers find their way out of the campsite and onto the ice in the winter as fish houses. Which was the case with Millie. You can see the difference in wheel placement on the photos below.

camperbwThe transformation from fish house to camper has been a little challenging.  We finally got the wheels installed and put back on a new axel. ( pictures above )  On the inside, the floor had circle holes cut in the middle which were used as fishing holes.

Little did we know how much work it was going to be to get the main wheels back in place. After a few months in the shop we are so excited that she has her wheels back on ( pictured above ) and ready for her exterior and interior makeover!!!

camper1The inside kitchen has a lot of original features that we hope to keep and reuse as they are in great working condition, just needs a little TLC.  Thankfully all the walls are in excellent condition and just needs a coat of white paint !!

inside2We are removing the carpet and installing new laminate wood flooring  . We wanted a flooring that was going to be durable and easy to clean!! It clearly was a no brainer to remove the carpet .

The back of the camper is empty. With the small space we are still trying to decide how we want to utilize and make the most of the space.
