vintage brass plant stand DIY

Oh hey National thrift shop day !!!!

I thought it would be fitting to share with you a fun thrifted DIY on #nationalthriftshopday . I think this just might be my favorite hashtag holiday around !!!!

I have been really crushing on house plants, and trying to add more into my home. I can’t say I can keep them all alive, but I sure am going to try!!

Last weekend while I was out making the thrift store rounds I scored these super cute vintage metal brass plant stands. I was super sad to see they were pretty rusty!!!  I still bought them anyway, for $5  how could I pass them up.

The spray painting days are quickly coming to a end here in the mid-west.  I don’t think I have picked up a can  all summer.  Maybe once, which is so unlike me .

HOW TO D.I.Y  >>>  Before I started spray painting, I wiped the stands down with a rag to get any dust or loose rust off the stands. I choose a semi gloss white spray paint ( rust-o-lium brand ) and gave each stand 3 coats, letting each coat dry before re-appling.

I really contimplated spraying the stands gold instead of white. I am really loving the clean look of the white especially with the colored pots.

Speaking of pots, the thrift stores are a great place to find unique and fun pots.  I got both of these for under $4 each. I just love their color , shape and pattern.

Now that I have my plant stands all painted and looking like new, I am crossing my fingers my plants continue to grow . I don’t think I will have a problem with the mother in laws tongue ( in the pink pot ) but the other … that’s going to be a challenge.
