Last week as I was cleaning the kitchen, I couldn’t believe how much plastic was building up to go out to the recycle bin. Granted, we did just take a trip to Costco. And I should note, MOST of them contained fruit. So, instead of throwing the containers away, I thought it would be fun to try find a way to re-use them.
To start, I sprayed the plastic container with a gold spray paint, a perfect match for my Maggie Holmes style board collection paper. Once the container was dry I measured the front and cut 2 strips. I love when the front and the back are the same size. To finish the front off, I began layering using a small crochet doily, ruffled crepe paper, and 2 tags both from the styleboard collection. I love using a variety of textures when layering.
Let’s first talk quick about how awesome this cork board paper is. And a perfect look for a graduation too.
To create the card holder I first sized and attached a pattern paper onto the manilla tag. To make the gift card pocket, size the cork paper to to the manilla tag. Cut a triangle shape off the top. Slowly , I sewed the cork paper onto the manilla tag. Using a heart shaped pin, I stuck a collection of layers onto the front.
To finish it off, I added this super fun kraft and gold polka dot paper inside. And to think this cute little basil container was going to be recycled.
