Be Crafty

I always seem to walk out of antique stores with a random handful of letters. Some are old and plastic while others are paper used for flashcards and vintage signs. They are my go to and favorite way to add personalization to gifts.

When I found a pack for under $4 at the hardware store  you know they went right into my cart.

With Christmas gift wrapping just around the corner these letters will make the perfect topper to all my gifts.

I really like the natural kraft color of the stencil letters but for Christmas I thought It would be fun to paint them in bright Christmas colors. Using acrylic paint I simply painted both sides of the letters.

I just love the pop of the bright color it brings to a simple gift.

Hoping my friend’s aren’t sick of getting letters on their gifts, they just might be getting one more this Christmas.

Let’s be honest. Cleaning my desk was not exactly on my fun list of things to do this weekend. I seem to create a lot of piles. My work space is not big, which creates a lot of shuffling and moving of papers and supplies.

This weekend I finally tackled my desk, took everything off and even painted it white.

Let’s just say one project lead to another.

This past summer my friend Katie  sent me home with a vintage baby bed spring after visiting her farm.  I couldn’t wait to hang it up and this weekend I finally did.  Using a few nails I hung it above my desk attaching all my favorite papers and pictures.

Yesterday Lesley announced that her new makers gonna make print was available in her shop as a desktop download . All proceeds are being donated to help a family with their adoption costs. I just love turning my computer on to this. Makes me want to dance around my living room with a paint brush. Just kidding.

Using large paper sheets in text weight that I had left over from workshops, I folded a random assortment of paper fans to hang in the corner of the bed frame. I also mixed in tissue paper  and some honeycomb balls. I just love the colors and texture it brings to the room.  This space has been a work in progress for the past year. With a wide open split level, the eye see’s everything all at once . Slowly things are getting meshed together .

Most of all, this space is a place to call home, and a place to make.

 I am a big believer in thank you notes. Although I might not get them sent out on a timely manner, I still feel it’s important to send them. Today I am excited to share with you a few layered thank you + hello notes I created using the Open Book collection over on Maggie’s blog. 

Yesterday it officially went from fall to winter.  With the fresh new blanket of snow on the ground I am jumping out of fall early and getting excited to start decorating for Christmas.

While browsing through Target I just happened to find myself in the Christmas corner. I got so excited when I found these cute little deer sitting in the $3 bin. You all know how much I love deer, so of course I grabbed them all and used one of them for a cute little wreath for our front door, a nice transition from fall to winter.

To make a wreath using a ornament I started by  using a thin glitter trim to tie my deer to my wreath. Wire would also work.  I also sprayed my wreath with some glitter spray to give it a little extra glitz. Be careful with the glitter spray. It can make a big mess. I usually spray it in a box or out in the garage!!!

After the deer is in place I added some fake greens. You can find these at any crafty store.  They come on a big stick. I just simply pulled a few off for this project.

I then layered in some berries. I found it helpful to add a little hot-glue to these to keep them from sliding round.

Once the berries are attached I add some lace (or string)  and hang it on our front door!!!

Most of all, this project is pretty budget friendly. I was able to do 6 wreaths using stick of greens and berries. I think this will make the perfect hostess gift for Thanksgiving!!
