Prepping for summer

This weekend I spent as much time outside as I could, soaking in the warm spring sun. The lawn was mowed for the first time, and I finally got a chance to plant some seed packets that I had picked up weeks ago while I was patiently waiting for the snow to melt.

Last year, I made these bamboo fork markers, and loved how they turned out that I decided to make them again. This year I am trying to grow a few new greens, so new markers were needed.

 

I am all about using supplies that are on hand and does not require a trip to the store.  And since I didn’t have popsicle sticks ( who dosen’t have popsicle sticks stashed in their craft supplies ??)  I did  however have a bunch of left over bamboo forks .

With a little washi tape, I sectioned off the area where I wanted to paint. Washi tape is the perfect size in tape for the forks, and peels off easily.

Once I wrapped all the forks, I picked out one of my favorite paint colors (citrus hill by behr ) and and painted the bottom portion of the forks. Once the paint has been fully covered, remove the tape. If you wait for the paint to dry and try to pull off the tape, you might peel off paint which will create an uneven line. 

Since each fork will be used for a different seed, I used individual mini stamps to create label names. Once the forks were all stamped I sealed them with a clear coat. Using a spray sealant ( found in the spray can isle) works the best.

Now I am crossing my fingers these little seeds will grow!!!!
